dracula (2012)
why did i think watching this right after the herzog nosferatu was a good idea? oh i know. because this one time, dario argento made cool, scary movies. this was not one of them. it had its pretty moments. it also had a few what the fuck moments. like, you know dracula can shapeshift into a bat? yeah, no. he shapeshifts into an owl (!!!) and a GIANT PRAYING MANTIS. what now? anyway, this movie sucked. completely. this dracula made herzog's look like a charismatic play-a. i'm now forced to wonder if there is any decent modern adaptation of dracula. its such a good book.
